Unwrap something sweet this season

Nutrition: "I stick to whole wheat everything, stay away from refined sugars and I read the label on everything. When I eat something, I ask myself, `What can my body use from this?' if the answer is nothing ... I just don't put it in my mouth. Oh, and I eat all day... little bits all day. The body is like a stove, if you want to keep the fire burning calories all day, keep it going."

What drives you: "Dancing is my all- time favourite way to work out. It's such a release. You get to be creative and expressive and energetic, and in striptease, even sexy. You sure can't get all that from a treadmill."

Mother Earth Mother Board

The market was just a few square blocks of George Town where British law was enforced, i.e. where businessmen could rely on a few basics like property rights, contracts, and a currency.

During and after World War II, the British lost what presence they had here. Penang fell to the Japanese and became a base for German U-Boats patrolling the Indian Ocean. Later, there was a somewhat messy transition to independence involving a communist insurrection and a war with Indonesia. Today, Malaysia is one of Asia's economic supernovas and evidently has decided that it will be second to none when it comes to the Internet. They are furiously wiring up the place and have established JARING, which is the Malaysian Internet (this word is a somewhat tortured English acronym that happens to spell out the Malay word for the Net).

Grow veggies without displacing flowers

I'm too foolish about flowers to give over my limited bits of sunny garden to a proper vegetable plot. But this time of year I think about it, with yearning.

I've tasted sautéed spinach picked from the garden not 15 minutes earlier. I've swooned over steamed young potatoes my son dug with a kindly farmer at a bed and breakfast in the south of England. Although that experience was 11 years ago, it's a persistent and pleasant food memory for both of us.

NBC11 Answers E. coli Questions

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- As federal health officials continue to investigate the E. coli outbreak that has spread through the nation during the past few days, Bay Area consumers are left with many questions.

These questions were answered on Sept. 19 and are subject to chance as the FDA's investigation continues.

Question No. 1: "How many people have gotten sick, and are they mostly kids?" -Jennifer

Favro: "According to the FDA, 146 people have gotten sick, including one person in California, in Shasta County. Most of them were not children. They were between the ages of 20 and 64. One person died.

"I can tell you 71 percent of the people who've gotten sick are women. The FDA says, 'What's unusually high is the number of people who developed severe kidney problems.' So far, 76 have been hospitalized."

Question No.

Nature Made creates nutritional supplements for prescription users

For years, vitamin supplements have targeted specific users, from children's chewables to prenatal pills. Nature Made recently launched a line of supplements that address the nutritional needs of adults taking specific prescription medications, from Prilosec to Prozac.

Scientific research increasingly indicates that certain medications can reduce key nutrients in the body, said Carroll Reider, a registered dietitian with Pharmavite, Nature Made's parent company.

"We've been watching these studies come in for 10 to 15 years, showing that one medicine or another may deplete nutrients in users," Ms. Reider said. "In many cases, you'd have to take a bunch of individual vitamins or minerals to make up for the deficiencies."

Nature Made last fall unveiled five formulations under the name Rx Essentials.
