Welcome to the new International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California - Inland Empire, located just off Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino. Eating cues can be subtle or unseen
People can be influenced to eat unhealthful food, or more food than they should, without even realizing it. -- Advertising matters. One study, published in 2007 in the Journal of Consumer Research, found that people think they are eating healthfully if it's advertised that way. Researchers had people eat Subway meals that contained the same amount of calories as a McDonald's meal, but the people estimated that the Subway meal contained 35 percent fewer calories. -- Eating is automatic. A 2004 study in the journal Appetite showed that people who are served bigger portions will eat more. Men given large bags of potato chips ate triple the number of chips -- an extra 311 calories -- compared with men given a small bag of chips. -- Visual cues prompt eating.
New Aqua Teen DVD will get on swimmingly with stoners
As it enters season five, many of us may wonder just how Aqua Teen Hunger Force has survived for so long. But despite being deemed a stoned-college-students-only affair, Aqua Teen has some redeeming qualities. Much like South Park, season five of Aqua Teen contains crude, vulgar, and sexual humor presented in a distinct cartoon format that mixes computer effects and real images. The 15-minute episodes are easily digestible and cover a wide range of topics, including global warming, gay rights, and corporate advertising. At the end of the day, most of us derive some kind of pleasure from laughing at others' stupidity, and that is all the humor of Aqua Teen is. Few comedies are universally funny, and by now, Aqua Teen has a reliable fan base that the creators are aware of, I'm sure.

It's amazing how little power can go to someone's head. Exhibit 1A: The Douglas Police Department.As I write this it is 2:09 a.m.Here is how a recent Saturday night went:I attended the girls' basketball game against Cody. They won by 20.I drove home from the high school and made myself spaghetti for dinner. I watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by myself. Around 9 p.m. I got a call from a friend, notifying me that he and others had just arrived at the LaBonte. I drove down to meet them.I arrived at the local gathering place around 10 p.m. I had a few drinks (Bud Light on tap), originally planning on just having a beer and returning home. Instead, I enjoyed myself, indulged in a few libations, and as soon as they blinked the lights signaling last call, my two friends and I decided to leave.

Sayyeda Zeinab came to Egypt in the year 61 after Hijra (AH, equivalent to the year 680 on the Julian calendar) after her brother, Sayyedna Al-Hussein, was murdered in the battle of Karbalaa by the legions of the new Umayyad Caliph Al-Yazid I. She died and was buried in Cairo, where an entire district was named in her honor. To this day, the Mosque of Sayyeda Zeinab is a popular destination for Egyptians, poor and rich, in need of succor. Sayyeda Zeinab's journey to Egypt showed the Prophet's other grandchildren and relatives that Egypt would be a safe haven for them in times of need. She had brought her nephews and nieces with her, the sons and daughters of her deceased brothers Al-Hussein and Al-Hassan, and their descendants are those who live among us today as Al-Ashraaf. At turns feared and persecuted by those in power because of the boundless love and respect the family attracts from the masses, there are now some 70,000 officially recognized families in Egypt who can trace their lineage back to the Prophet and his descendants.

Red tide advisory lifted for beaches in Martin County
The Martin County Health Department has lifted the red tide health advisory for Martin County beaches. For the past two weeks, the microorganism that causes red tide has not been detected in water samples collected by the health department and no respiratory complaints associated with red tide have been reported. The public may obtain more information on ongoing red tide events from the Florida Marine Research Institute by going to http://research.mvfwc.com/.
